West Kingsdown residents looking to lose weight after this year's festive activities have come to an end need look no further than Why Weight when it returns to the village in 2011.
Why Weight, a free adult weight management programme, is aimed at residents who have at least two stone to lose.
The returning course, which has proved extremely popular in other areas of the District, will be starting on Friday 11 February 2011 from 9.30am until 11am at West Kingsdown Village Hall and will continue every Friday thereafter. Participants must be aged 18 and over.
The course runs for 12 weeks and focuses on helping people understand the relationship between food, exercise and weight control. Each weekly session touches on a particular subject, such as food labels, portion sizes and eating out.
Every session will end in a voluntary gentle exercise lasting 30 minutes.
Cllr Pat Bosley, Sevenoaks District Council's Cabinet member with responsibility for healthy living, says:
Val Miller, Public Health Specialist, adds:
Why Weight is organised by Sevenoaks District Council and funded by NHS West Kent as part of The Choosing Health Agenda, which aims to make healthier choices easier.
To find out more, or sign up to the programme, residents should speak with their GP, practice nurse or any health professional or contact Sevenoaks District Council on 01732 227000.
