  1. Local people celebrated to mark the opening of the newly improved Park View Playground on Stangrove Park estate in Edenbridge on 25 July.

The new playground has benefited from a complete revamp including new poles, seats, gates, tarmac and resurfacing. New and improved equipment includes rotating balance poles, basket swing, net climber, grassy mounds with stepping stones and a replacement multisport ball games area with rebound walls. In addition, Edenbridge Town Council’s teen shelter from Stangrove Park has been relocated to the Park View play area.

The local youth forum brought about this project working with West Kent Extra and the Town Council. Sevenoaks District Council has contributed £37,000 towards the improvements with the remaining £38,000 being secured from the Biffa Award following a successful application by Jo Thexton from the Stangrove Area Community Action Group.

Behind the success: Senior Parking and Amenities Officer David Boorman, Jo Thexton of the Stangrove Area Community Action Group, Local Youth Representative Aimee Harrison, Biffa Representative Mark Hudson and the Council's member for the Cleaner and Greener Environment Cllr Avril Hunter celebrate with residents.
