  1. Race action sequences from “Rush”, the much-anticipated movie about the 1970s Formula 1 rivalry between charismatic Englishman James Hunt and Austrian perfectionist Niki Lauda, were filmed at Kent’s own Brands Hatch circuit.

The venue doubles as various international race tracks including the Nurburgring, Monza and Firano (Naples), for director Ron Howard’s movie, which is released on Friday 13 September.

“Rush” has an award-winning team behind it, because both Howard (A Beautiful Mind, Frost/Nixon) and writer Peter Morgan (Da Vinci Code, Apollo 13) have previously won two Oscars.

The film stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor, The Avengers), Daniel Bruhl (Inglorious Basterds, The Bourne Ultimatum), Olivia Wilde (The O.C, TRON:Uprising), Alexandra Maria Lara (The Reader) and Natalie Dormer (Captain America, Game of Thrones).

The “Rush” production team visited Brands Hatch for two days in March 2012 and another two days in May 2012 plus a further two days in the county for pre- and post- production, which equates to an estimated spend in Kent of £110,000.

The Kent Film Office liaised with the production team and Sevenoaks District Council to ensure that the local residents were consulted on the possible environmental impact on the area during filming.
