    Salary Band £23,706 to £26,107

    1 x Full time position (37hr)

    1 x Part time position (25hr)

    We are looking for someone who shares our passion to deliver excellent service to our customers. If you are someone who can demonstrate understanding, empathy and the ability to stay calm under pressure, as well as embrace our values, then this role will suit you.

    The main duties are;

    • To accurately process all types of Council Tax Reduction (CTR) and Housing Benefit (HB) applications within relevant primary and secondary legislation.
    • To interview customers on the telephone and at the counter providing extensive advice and guidance in connection with the assessment of their applications
    • To deal with correspondence received by telephone, email, electronically, face-to-face or by post in respect of all types of applications
    • Providing excellent customer service to all our Customers

    You will ideally have current experience of calculating and assessing all types of CTR and HB applications and an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of CTR/HB rules and regulations. However, we will consider applicants that don’t have this knowledge but do have current experience of general office work and have good numeracy skills.

    The Team

    Our team, working in partnership with Dartford Borough Council, consists of 19 Benefit Officers/Assistants, 3 Team Leaders, a Senior Team Leader and a Manager and we administer over 12,000 Council Tax Reduction and Housing Benefit customers.

    How to get to us

    Sevenoaks is only half an hour from central London by train. You will be based at the Council Offices, Argyle Road, Sevenoaks, Kent. TN13 1HG, however due to the current pandemic and current Government advice at the time of advert the role will require a combination of both remote and office based working.
