  1. Do you have a strong background in planning and policy development? Do you relish working in a challenging, innovative and fast paced environment?

We are looking for a dynamic, committed, forward thinking individual to lead the Strategic Planning Team. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic with an ability to deliver high quality work efficiently and lead three very busy teams; Planning Policy, Housing Policy and Conservation and Design. The key challenge will be to successfully deliver the Council’s new Local Plan.

Sevenoaks District provides both urban and rural challenges. It is an attractive place to locate (93% Green Belt and 60% AONB) and being just half an hour from central London by train, there is plenty going on. We need someone with the creativity, skills and desire to take our services to the next level, inspire colleagues and get the best for all our customers. We put customer service at the heart of everything we do.

In this influential role you will work directly with Chief Officers, the Chief Executive and elected Members. Uniquely the Council is financially self-sufficient, has earned Platinum Investors in People and was LGC Council of the Year 2017. If you have a proven track record of managing teams to realise their full potential you will relish the opportunity to work for an authority where you are truly empowered to make things happen and deliver excellence.

This is a great role where you can feel assured of the opportunity to succeed. We will empower you, invest in you, and help you to realise your potential. We want you to impress and have a real and lasting impact on the district.

For an informal discussion please contact Richard Morris, Chief Planning Officer on 01732 227268.
