  1. West Kingsdown residents will soon benefit from a £55,000 investment in an Adizone outdoor gym thanks to the forthcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games.

It was announced today (Tuesday 17 July 2012) that Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Fund will contribute £50,000 towards the project together with a grant for £5,000 from Sevenoaks District Council's Big Community Fund.

The Adizone outdoor gym will be constructed on Gamecock Meadow as a lasting legacy to West Kingsdown hosting the London 2012 Paralympic Games road cycle races later this summer.

The all-weather sporting facility is designed to be open to all and will boast a range of equipment, including a full-sized ski machine, a smaller bike and cross-trainer for children, a dance area, basketball hoops and a variety of resistance apparatus.

West Kingsdown Parish Council, in partnership with Sevenoaks District Council, made the successful grant application to Sport England earlier this year.

Cllr Peter Fleming, Leader of Sevenoaks District Council, says:
An installation timetable and expected opening date will be released during August.
