SEVENOAKS RSPB local group’s next meeting is at 7.45pm tonight (Thursday December 6) in the Memorial Hall to celebrate 25 years of the Sevenoaks Local Group and they will welcome back one of their favourite speakers, Simon Ginnaw, who will be presenting My Patch (Mote Park), with the photographic competition results, wine and Christmas nibbles. Admission is £2.50 for group members and £3.50 for non-members. MESSY MONSTERS is a pop-up messy play company in Kent. Sessions are suitable for children 6 months-5 years old. All products used are completely safe and edible. Different themes will be run at every session and they would love for you to go along and try one of their sessions. OTFORD & District Historical Society meet at 7.30pm on Wednesday December 12 in the Memorial Hall for their last meeting this year their AGM, with mulled wine, following by The History of Otford Village School by Alan Williams. DENISE Thompson Designer Florist is holding a Christmas Workshop in the Memorial Hall at 7pm on Friday December 14 to make a Table/mantle arrangement. ST BART’S church will be holding their Tree of Light Services at 7pm on Friday December 14 in the church and on the village green. Cheques for your donation need to be made out to Hospice in the Weald. The tree will remain lit until after the New Year. Otford library invite you along to a community fun morning on December 15. From 10.00am until 11.00am there will be craft activities for children to make Christmas tree decorations. At 11.00am there will be some carol singing kindly performed by members of different choirs who live in the village. Stamps go on sale on November 29 for the 36th year running and will be available until Friday December 21. The special charity post service, which is one of the longest running in the country, delivers Christmas cards with the scheme’s special stamps to addresses in Otford village. Stamps cost 30p and are available to purchase in Otford Library during normal opening hours or in the Parish Council office every weekday morning. Christmas cards can be posted in the special post boxes located in the same places. Otford’s Brownies and Guides will collect, sort, frank and then deliver the cards over the two weekends before Christmas. This year the money raised from the sale of the stamps will be divided between Embrace Ability, a charity working with disabled children and their families in Cambodia and for whom one of their leaders is currently volunteering in Cambodia, and Sevenoaks Community First Responders. Please support them by purchasing the special stamps and posting your cards early.
