Otford Folk Dance Club meet every Thursday throughout the year in Otford church hall, high street, opposite ‘The Bull’, and at 8pm Thursday Margaret Browning will be calling. The tickets for this dance cost £3 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. All kinds of mixed folk dances are on offer and all are welcome. Otford Memorial Halls refurbishment funds will benefit from the purchasing of tickets for a performance of Gloriator being held at 8pm on Friday April 21 in the hall. This is the story of what happens when a glamorous French actress and her hapless assistant stage their version of Hollywood blockbuster Gladiator. It is wonderfully inventive, physical and very silly and has won awards and support from organisations such as the Arts Council England and Bristol Old Vic Ferment. Tickets will be available from March 1 at Yvonne’s, Telston Lane, Otford Emporium, Otford Parish Council Offices and Wegottickets.com and cost £10 per adult, £5 for children 5-16 years, under 5’s free. The performance lasts for just over an hour with all profits going to the refurbishment fund. At 10.45am on Palm Sunday, April 9, all Otford churches will meet at the Otford Methodist Church car park for a joint Palm Sunday celebration when they will walk up the high street to the green. On April 14 they will meet in their hall for their Good Friday service and children will be making a special Easter garden at this time. McDonald's on Sevenoaks Road have changed the date of their re-opening ceremony to 8.30am Thursday April 6. Having undergone a major digital transformation and reconfiguration of the car park and drive thru lane to accommodate the introduction of side by side ordering, including a new island for signage and amendments to kerb lines.
