OTFORD United Juniors Football Club under 14's are looking for a new goalkeeper for next season 2018/19. They play in the Crowborough League, with matches on Sundays at Hale Lane Recreation Ground, Otford, and have been one of the stronger teams in the division this season with a realistic chance of finishing the season in second place. They are an inclusive and friendly club, and as well as playing matches and training they also have an active social life that includes going to England matches and occasionally getting together for meals or World Cup parties. They offer tennis for all ranges and abilities with year-round play under floodlights. There is both social and competitive tennis and coaching for adults and juniors available. This gifted group of formal choral scholars from Trinity College, Cambridge and friends return to St Bart’s Church at 7.30pm on Saturday April 21. They will sing music ranging from the sixteenth century composer Allegri to a modern close-harmony arrangement of John Brown's Body, and a selection of classic hymns of pilgrimage. As well as music performed by the full choir there will be items by a smaller ensemble - with string accompaniment, and an organ solo. Tickets at £15 - which includes refreshments - are available from the church office (01959 523185, mornings only). Do come with your friends to hear this talented choir on a spring evening in the newly refurbished church. OTFORD Folk Dance Club meet at 8pm every Thursday throughout the year in the Otford church hall, High Street, opposite ‘The Bull’ and on Thursday March 29 Mary Browning will be calling to recorded music. The cost is £1.50. which includes tea or coffee. All kinds of mixed folk dances are on offer and all are welcome. Whether you have little or no knowledge, the caller will give help and your fellow dancers will also assist you. THERE is still time to support your local Scout Group, the 15th Sevenoaks (Otford), who are walking to raise money for Water Aid and Toilet Twinning, from Otford to The Thames via the Darent Valley Path on Sunday. Their chosen charities aim to improve access to clean water, safe sanitation and hygiene education for some of the poorest people in the world. Beavers, Cubs and Scouts will walk differing lengths of the path with the Leaders going the whole 16 miles.
