Each year LGBT History Month recognises the contribution of lesbian, gay, bi and trans people to history, and the history of the LGBT rights movement. This LGBT History Month, we stand in solidarity with all LGBT people who experience mental health problems, past and present. We have seen many successes over the last few decades. But there is still a long way to go. Many of us are still struggling.

Those of us who identify as LGBTIQ+ are more likely to experience a mental health problem. This is because of the bullying, rejection, stigma and discrimination we still routinely experience. The pandemic has made a lot of these realities worse. Many of us have struggled to access services. We’ve been more isolated. We’ve faced abuse and discrimination from those we’ve had to live with.

This LGBT History Month, we stand in solidarity with all LGBT people who experience mental health problems, past and present.
