    Commercial Waste Enforcement Officer

    Salary Band D £28,367 to £31,077

    A generous annual leave allowance of 27 days (plus an additional 5 days depending on having Continuous Local Government Service).

    The Role

    This is an exciting new role within the Council’s Business Development and Environmental Enforcement teams within Direct Services where you will be involved with all aspects of the customer journey and will work with businesses across the district to educate and enforce compliance to their waste duty of care.

    We are looking for a candidate who can confidently educate, direct and enforce, where necessary commercial waste regulations, and would be able to assist in developing and maintaining business relationships for the Commercial Waste team. This is a uniformed position.

    The Commercial waste enforcement officer will be confident contacting and visiting businesses to help them comply with commercial waste regulations, as regulated by the Environmental Protection Act. You will also work closely with our Environmental Enforcement Team on all streetscene enforcement and compliance investigations, and you will help determine the optimum waste collection service for customers and will provide notices for compliance with waste legislation.

    The Team

    Direct Services has approximately 110 operational staff working across the various functions including Business Development, Clean & Green services, Enforcement, Civil Protection and Transportation and Depot Operations.

    The Successful Applicant will have;

    • Relevant investigation or enforcement or similar level qualification.
    • Experience of working with environmental waste legislation.
    • Experience in the issuing and recording of Fixed Penalty Notices in accordance with Legislation, Council Policies and Procedures.
    • Ability to work outside in all weathers.
    • Ability to convey information clearly to a wide range of recipients both internally and externally.

    Sevenoaks is only half an hour from central London by train. You will be based from the Dunbrik Depot, 2 Main Road, Dunbrik, Sundridge TN14 6EP. Due to the current pandemic and current Government advice at the time of advert the role will require a combination of both remote and office based working. A free staff car park is available on site.
