Chairman visits pupils for bike marking

Sevenoaks District Council's Chairman, Cllr Keith Loney will visit a local school next week to see pupils have their bikes security marked.

Pupils from West Kingsdown Primary School will have an opportunity to have the bikes marked with a unique security code as part of promoting the use of bikes for sustainable school travel. The code is permanently placed on the bicycle, along with a sticker showing it is property marked. The unique code is registered with the owner and this information is then held on a secure database. A logbook is then issued to the owner of the bicycle.

The bike marking will take place on Wednesday 23 June at 8.30am on the playground and has been organised by Sevenoaks District Council in partnership with Kent Police.

Cllr Keith Loney will watch the marking of the bicycles and will then talk to the children during assembly about his work.
