Hello, My Broadband and phone contract is coming up for renewal and I wondered which companies other people are with and if they have been happy as different companies service varies so much from area to area. At the moment I am with Talk Talk (LLU) who now charge £6.50 for bb (40gb limit and speeds of around 4 gig when I last checked) and it includes evening and weekend calls. Line rental is £13.80 (or you can get it for around £10 if you pay for the year upfront). It has been a good service with minor problems but the customer service has been good. Kind Regards, Charning
Currently use both TalkTalk (x-Tiscali) on home line and Zen on business line, with a bridged connection through a dual WAN router. In the past I've found TalkTalk to have poor support though no recent experience and maybe, hopefully, things have improved. Their packages seem to offer good value. I would also look at www.plus.net broadband packages (they promote their UK based call centre) and BT (I know a few people in Otford have moved back to BT from Tiscali). Unfortunately no BT Infinity service on the Otford exchange and not likely to be for some time yet. For the 'best' broadband service, I can thoroughly recommend www.Zen.co.uk - though they are not the cheapest. Good luck with your choices!
I am with TalkTalk and have been (reasonably) happy with speeds, etc although I do take JohnH's point about service. Only had to use it once several years ago and it was outrageously expensive. Obviously, everyone would like greater speeds but until we get fibre optics (whenever that may be!) this isn't going to happen.
Although I have my phone with TalkTalk my broadband is with Plusnet. As John said above the service is great (real people based in Yorkshire) but the speed is only OK. I was previously with Pipex for many years until they were taken over by Tiscali but service only became available 9-8, Mon to Friday so I moved. The speed with Pipex was very variable but sometimes I could get 7-8 Mb/s. With Plusnet it's probably more stable but I rarely get more than 2.3Mb/s and less late in the aternoon and evening. Does it make a difference who your supplier is when it all goes through the same BT exchange? (Ron, what are you doing with Graham in your photo?)
