The Rugby Club from Sevenoaks is raising vital funds for blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan. Sevenoaks RFC is holding the 2nd Jim Monks Memorial Rugby Tournament on Saturday 19th April 2014 with matches and festivities commencing from 2pm.

We have decided to hold the event because we suffered the untimely passing of club stalwart Jim Monks in 2012 and this charity was something very close to Jim and his wife Lori’s heart. Jim served the club as administrator and player for many years, captaining the AXV to the league title in his time. In his professional career, Jim was an Assistant Deputy Commissioner for the London Fire Brigade and was in charge of the Fire Brigades input into London 2012. Unfortunately, Jims untimely passing prevented him from seeing his hard work come to fruition.

During the Easter school holidays parents and children can take advantage of free, ‘Family Fun Days’ throughout the District.

Organised by Sevenoaks District Council, four fun days will take place giving children and young people the chance to try out Easter themed craft making, face painting, games, sport and more in a friendly, safe environment.

No booking is required for these free events, families can simply turn up and enjoy what’s on offer! Children must be supervised by a parent or carer at all times.

The Family Fun days will be held on the following days and places:

  • Monday 14 April, 10am to 2pm,Otford Recreation Ground
  • Tuesday 15 April, 10am to 2pm, Leigh Recreation Ground
  • Wednesday 16 April, 10am to 2pm, Rickards Hall, off the High Street, Edenbridge
  • Thursday 17 April, 10am to 2pm, Horton Kirby & South Darenth Village Hall, Horton Road, South Darenth
